Some days ago I was reading another blog and he was reading a book to which he highly recommended, so I went out and bought it. ook, In A Pit With A Lion On A Snowy Day, is further confirmation to me that I need to get deeper in the Bible. Their is so much in the Bible that I have no idea about. The title of this book is taken right out of scripture. I had no idea the Bible even mentioned snow. Check this out:20 Then Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the middle of a pit on a snowy day.

The book takes an in depth look at Benaiah and his courage and no fear. He was a bad man and later in scripture climbed the ranks in David's army to the secretary of defense.
The author is Mark Batterson who is the senior pastor at this church http://theaterchurch.com in Washington, DC.
He challenges us in this book to strive and thrive when opportunity roars. To be a modern day lion chaser like Benaiah. One quote from the book I just love says "Think of every opportunity as God's gift to you. What you do with those opportunities is your gift to God."
In The book of Ephesians we see that the opportunities we face God has put in our path long before we were even here. Lets take a look.
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
Eph 2:10 (NASB)
Eph 2:10 (NASB)
Sheds a little light on the current situation you may be in, huh. Bottom line God knows it, God is there with you, and he is just waiting to see if we roar and charge it or cowar and run.
I am going to add Mark's blog to my link page and maybe you can put this book on your Christmas wish list. I'm looking forward to the pages ahead, both in this book and in The Book.
Have a Blessed Day!!!
ps. I will do a brief post tomorrow for turkey day.
