Pursuit of Happiness

Hope everybody had a good Monday! Mine was not that bad and I am looking forward to a great Tuesday. You just never know what is coming in the moments ahead. Case and point, yesterday I was driving home and jamming out to a little Third Day and my phone rings. It’s Amy (my crazy sister) and she and a friend (Lisa Whatley) were stumped on the title of a movie. So who better to call than her big bro, because……well I have been known to remember a lot of useless info. The question was the name of the movie that Will Smith recently starred in. To easy…..everybody knows this one (hello it just came out around Christmas) The Pursuit of Happiness. We talked briefly and we hung up. Well I got to thinking (which usually hurts) about those words….The Pursuit of Happiness.

How many people do you know who are searching for it and are looking in all the wrong places, only to come up more desperate and upset than they were before. What exactly does happiness look like? It seems that it is gone as soon as you get it. I would like to tell everyone that I am constantly happy, but that would just be a lie. I do have hope, and this hope I have leads to happiness. The only times that I am truly happy is when I am walking in His will. The thought of walking in God’s will, can stump a lot of people, because its not like God audibly talks to us or sends us letters, does He. Well I think that we are more apt to hear from Him when we are walking with Him everyday of every week, not just on Sunday mornings for two hours. God desires a relationship with us, and if you have a relationship with a human that you invest only a few hours a week, you won’t be in it too much longer.

God doesn’t require our very best, because our best can’t even compare. He just wants us to be willing. Willing to pick up the phone and tell a friend going through a rough time, you are praying for them. Willing to be nice to strangers and help them out when they need it. Willing to listen to the Holy Spirit’s promptings and most of all, willing to be used by Him! Then and only then will you set out on the Pursuit of Happiness.

Have a Blessed Day!!!
